Class Descriptions PilatesPilates method and emphasis is the very large group of muscles in the center of the body - encompassing the abdomen, lower back, hips, and buttocks - the "powerhouse." All energy for Pilates exercises is said to begin from the powerhouse and flow outward to the limbs. In other words, the Pilates technique asserts that physical energy exerted from the center should coordinate movements of the extremities. Pilates felt that it was important to build a strong powerhouse in order to rely on it in daily living. Modern instructors call the powerhouse the "core". Some classes may include stability ball, Thera Bands, mini ball and small weighted balls for added toning. Please bring your own mat and water to drink. (60 Minutes). ZumbaZumba is a combination of Latin and International music & dance themes creating a dynamic, exciting effective fitness system! The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba utilizes the principals of fitness interval training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning. It is a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps. Come dance your way to a fitter you! (60 Minutes) Zumba Goldfitness program is designed by taking the exciting Latin and International dance rhythms and putting them to music and choregraphy. Individuals who may be aging, or not able to do high-energy workouts, but love to move and dance, along with "newbies" are the perfect participants. Rhythms such as the Jitterbug, Swing, Cha Cha, Hustle and the Twist, help create some of the basic moves Zumba Gold has to offer, along with the Rumba, Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia and the Calyspo. Regardless of age, size and gender all who participate in Zumba love it keeping coming back for more. Zumbatomic®Give your kids something fun to do while getting good exercise - ZUMBATOMIC! Everyone is talking about Zumbatomic, the new fitness program for kids ages 5-12. It's a FUN way to stay active, learn new dance moves, make new friends and get into the groove. Kids love jamming to their favorite tunes! ZUMBA® TONINGIs an innovative muscle training program with the addition of light weight toning sticks. We provide the 2 1/2 lb, sand filled toning weights. In a relatively short period of time, this challenging workout helps in building coordination and muscle endurance. Now that you've worked on your lower body rhythm, its time to perfect the upper body! The NEW and exciting Zumba toning program is designed to offer the participant a safe, yet effective total body toning workout! This class is open to everyone, no previous dance or ZUMBA® class experience necessary. Boot CampThe format for a typical boot-camp class is essentially the same nationwide: a circuit-type class with continual movement from one activity to the next, with little to no rest in between. We utilize the same techniques each time, but change the exercises and the routines to keep people from getting bored and leveling off. The main components will always be warm-up, exercise and cool down. The exercise focus of the class can be broken down into three areas: upper-body development (UBD), lower-body development (LBD) and cardio. Core exercises will be performed every session, so there is no need for them to have a separate category. We will track our progress in a log journal and an interactive web site, there is also a nutrition portion in the form of a handout each week. Optionally, you may wish to have an initial fitness assessment before you begin and at the end of the five weeks to measure your progress. (60 Minutes) Belly DancingAn introduction to the art and fitness benefits of belly dance. No experience needed. You will learn basic belly dance moves such as traveling steps, chest isolations, shimmies and arm movements. The low-impact aerobic movements will stretch and strengthen your body while improving your balance and posture. This is a fun, graceful dance suitable for women of all shapes, sizes and ages. Bring a scarf to tie around your hips. Drums Alive!Drums Alive® is the most unique fitness/wellness program extravaganza to hit the market in years! It is unique and different from every other workout you've tried before, it captures the essence of movement, rhythm and combines it with fun and delivers real fitness results! The choreographies are designed to burn fat, improve physical and mental fitness and above all, be fun! Drums Alive® is full of powerful and motivating music and drumming rhythms that will get your feet stomping and your body moving. UCARE Enhance FitnessIf you enjoy working out with others and want to increase your level of fitness, then EnhanceFitness® classes are a great fit for you. EnhanceFitness® classes feature exercise techniques specially designed for older adults, including strength training, balance exercises, and cardiovascular conditioning. Participants work at their own pace and receive personal attention from highly trained instructors. (60 Minutes) Country Line DancingCountry line dancing is a social dance style in which a group of people dances a sequence of steps together,
in unison. The dancers stand in a series of rows facing the same direction, usually at the center of a dance
floor. Ballroom Dancing for BeginnersWe offer a variety of group classes to support our dancers at all stages of the learning process. Our classes are friendly, fun and supportive. You’ll be meeting new friends while you master new dance figures and patterns. Of course, we can teach you one-on-one to be an incredible dancer. Progress is rapid. Private dance lessons will transform your dancing. They are essential for anyone who is serious about his or her dancing. They are also a wonderful tool to support what you are learning in your group classes.(60 minutes)Getting married? Look like a Superstar at your wedding! We have years of experience helping wedding couples prepare for their big day. We will choreograph a special number to the song you select, and then teach you to dance with grace and musicality. Even if you’ve never danced before, we’ll have you dancing like the stars on your wedding day! Ask about: Bridal Boot Camp, fitness programs and dance lessons for the whole bridal party! KickboxingKickboxing is an exhilarating workout that provides total body conditioning and will help you build coordination, balance and self-confidence. Each class will begin with a warmup that will review all moves used in the session to get you ready to workout! At the end of the workout, there is a gradual cool down in which movements slow and breathing returns to normal. A kickboxing workout is truly a lot of fun and is a great addition to a weekly workout routine. By mixing up your workouts, you keep your body constantly working, which in turn gives you results that you don't get by doing the same routine over and over. Come join us!.(60 minutes).Functional FitnessAny physically independent active older adult who would like to remain active and achieve their optimum level of health. We will work on strength and resistance training, balance, core stability, joint flexibility, stretching and proper breathing techniques. (50 minutes)Tai ChiTai chi, sometimes called tai chi chuan, is a noncompetitive, self-paced system of gentle physical exercise and stretching. To do tai chi, you perform a series of postures or movements in a slow, graceful manner. Each posture flows into the next without pausing. Anyone, regardless of age or physical ability, can practice tai chi. It doesn't take physical prowess. Rather, tai chi emphasizes technique over strength. Tai chi is used to: Reduce stress , Increase flexibility, Improve muscle strength and definition, Increase energy, stamina and agility, Increase feelings of well-being.Yoga/Pilates FusionWant a great way to start the day? Join us for some yoga with a little Pilates mixed in just for fun. Yoga provides energizing movement and wonderful stress relief. Pilates strengthens your powerhouse, which can help with back pain, and tones your mid section. We\'ll start class with some breathing and moving to warm up. Then we focus on our strength and balance. Finally we turn our attention to flexibility and some much needed relaxation. Just as an added bonus Pilates will be integrated some where in the routine. We will practice both standing and on the floor. Please wear comfortable layered clothing, bring your mat, some water, and your positive energy. Star your day right, come join us! (75 min.)Working on your COREYour CORE includes anything below your armpits to above your thighs. All these muscles help you live your life everyday, they are very functional muscles. Now, they are also the muscles that everyone wants to have looking their very best through their skin...chest, abs, back, buns, hips...right? Right! This class will workout ALL those muscles in an efficient way through various forms of exercises using hand weights, your body weight, cardio bursts and most of all FUN! It is a 45 minute class including a warm-up and cool-down/stretch guaranteed to get your day started with energy! Equipment needed would be shoes, a mat and light hand weights (if you have them).
