Class Descriptions

Pilates

Pilates method and emphasis is the very large group of muscles in the center of the body - encompassing the abdomen, lower back, hips, and buttocks - the "powerhouse." All energy for Pilates exercises is said to begin from the powerhouse and flow outward to the limbs. In other words, the Pilates technique asserts that physical energy exerted from the center should coordinate movements of the extremities. Pilates felt that it was important to build a strong powerhouse in order to rely on it in daily living. Modern instructors call the powerhouse the "core". Some classes may include stability ball, Thera Bands, mini ball and small weighted balls for added toning. Please bring your own mat and water to drink. (60 Minutes).

Zumba

Zumba is a combination of Latin and International music & dance themes creating a dynamic, exciting effective fitness system! The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba utilizes the principals of fitness interval training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning. It is a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps. Come dance your way to a fitter you! (60 Minutes)

Zumba Gold

This fitness program is designed by taking the exciting Latin and International dance rhythms and putting them to music and choregraphy. Individuals who may be aging, or not able to do high-energy workouts, but love to move and dance, along with "newbies" are the perfect participants. Rhythms such as the Jitterbug, Swing, Cha Cha, Hustle and the Twist, help create some of the basic moves Zumba Gold has to offer, along with the Rumba, Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia and the Calyspo. Regardless of age, size and gender all who participate in Zumba love it keeping coming back for more.

ZUMBA® TONING

Is an innovative muscle training program with the addition of light weight toning sticks. We provide the 2 1/2 lb, sand filled toning weights. In a relatively short period of time, this challenging workout helps in building coordination and muscle endurance. Now that you've worked on your lower body rhythm, its time to perfect the upper body! The NEW and exciting Zumba toning program is designed to offer the participant a safe, yet effective total body toning workout! This class is open to everyone, no previous dance or ZUMBA® class experience necessary.

Toning and Stretch

Interval format using a combination of low impact exercises to raise the heart rate and improve cardio vascular performance. We will alternate using various resistance tools; therabands, medicine balls, stability balls, exertubes and more to gain muscular strength and endurance. All ages welcome.

UCARE Enhance Fitness

If you enjoy working out with others and want to increase your level of fitness, then EnhanceFitness® classes are a great fit for you. EnhanceFitness® classes feature exercise techniques specially designed for older adults, including strength training, balance exercises, and cardiovascular conditioning. Participants work at their own pace and receive personal attention from highly trained instructors. Research has shown that these award winning classes have the ability to significantly improve overall fitness and health. (60 Minutes)
